Products to stop dry natural hair

Winter brings cold temperatures, rain, dry air, and in some areas snow all which can cause dry natural hair. Dry hair is a common complaint amongst naturalistas because it's harder for the natural sebum to travel down the kinks and curls of curly hair, which can be exasperated once the air becomes dryer. After six years of being natural, I have discovered a few treatments that have helped me in the struggle with dry hair.

There have only been three times in my life when I have felt the pit of despair in my stomach due to devastating events in the world. The first was 9/11, and unfortunately, the other two times have both been in 2016. This year has brought multiple killings of Black men and women at the hands of police officers and the surprise election of a hot-tempered businessman to the office of president. You know it must be a crazy year when it's been 15 years since you've had this sickening feeling, and for it to happen twice in one year!

natural hair journey

This week's natural in business owner is Mylah Stanton whom I met through a local networking group we were both apart of and thanks to Facebook we've been able to stay in touch. She's a sweetheart and you'll enjoy the story of her natural hair journey.

determination is my word of the year

If I had to describe 2015 in one word I would choose roller coaster because it was definitely one up and down after another. Then if I had to think about it that's really how the last five years have been, some years bumpier than others. Much of 2015 was spent attempting to get my life in business, blogging, and finances. I did not accomplish as much as I would have liked so this year, 2016, I am determined to make significant changes. Because I am focused on having a successful 2016, my personal word for the year is "determination."

When I think of someone that is determined they are focused on accomplishing their goal, they allow little to get in their way. A few inspirational synonyms are conviction, drive, fortitude, grit, persistence, purpose, steadfastness, and tenacity.
personal word of the year

Along with my personal word my motto for the year is, "focus on the results, not the struggle to get there." On any road to greatness there are many challenges but if you focus on the results instead of the struggles the journey is much easier.

I'm inspired by the many powerful women bloggers in Bloggers Like Me whom I have witnessed take their dream and make it a reality, such as beauty and fashion blogger, Lisa of Lisa a la Mode whose drive allowed her to transition from employed to self-employed without skipping a beat.

One of my goals with this blog is to remain on track by sticking to a regular posting schedule therefore, be ready to see more of me in 2016. If you have not done so already subscribe to receive regular updates and exclusive content.
