Lessons Learned - 30 Day Challenge Recap

One of the best things about blogging is meeting and networking with other bloggers because from my experience bloggers are a friendly, helpful bunch so it was at a blogger brunch that I met lifestyle blogger Elisabeth Hosmer of Headbands and Bagels. As we were chatting she told me that she had completed a 30 day shoe challenge which sounded like a ton of fun so I was inspired to try a challenge of my own.

I decided on a 30 Day No Repeat Clothing Challenge in which I would not repeat any outfits in the 30 days of June (accessories and outwear exempt) and I would post a daily picture on Instagram to document the challenge. I was eager but I knew not what I was getting in to...

Lessons Learned

  1. 30 Days is a Long Time - a month normally goes by pretty fast but when you're challenging yourself to do something out of the ordinary it can be a long 30 days. Lol

  2. Keeping a Routine is Possible - routine and structure are not my strong point. Coming up with ideas is fun but the execution not so much, but this challenge showed me that with a little effort I can keep a routine.

  3. I have A LOT of dresses - dresses are easy to throw on, they can easily be dressed up or down, and you can effortlessly complete your look with earrings and cute pumps.

  4. I live in a colorful world - my wardrobe consists of all the colors of the rainbow! If you name a color I'm sure I have it in my closet. I credit my African roots for my love affair with color. ;)

  5. More than just clothes - taking pictures and coming up with new poses forced me out of my comfort zone while I learned to be more creative and confident in pictures. I learned to feel ridiculous but to do it anyway, to go about my business like no is watching. You should have seen me posing with my tripod by myself on my front porch at night. My neighbors probably thought I was crazy but I decided not to care.

I'm glad I completed the challenge as it allowed me an opportunity to breathe life into clothing that was not getting a lot of wear and to learn more about myself. I want to thank all of my blogger and non-blogger buddies that participated - Naturealessence, Headbands and Bagels, Naturally Glam, Elsyse, The Look Book Philosophy, Style Diary by Osy, Yolanda, Kelly, Lauren.

Be on the look out for a giveaway and another Instagram challenge in the coming months. All 30 days worth of outfits can be viewed on my Facebook page and on Instagram. Be sure to "like" and "follow" while you are there!

Thank you. Posing is no joke! I don't know how models do it but I guess that is why they are paid the big bucks. Lol

  6. Loved this challenge. I learned alot about myself and it was definitely a push outside the comfort zone! I agree with you too, dresses are the easiest thing! Its a complete outfit in one piece! Thats why Im not sure I would have made it through as long as I did during the winter months Lol!
